Mitt Romney Defends McCain Against Trump, Instantly Backfires

Mitt Romney’s defense of John McCain against Trump did not go as he planned on Twitter.

Per FoxNews, Utah Republican Sen. Mitt Romney came to the defense of his late friend, Sen. John McCain, on Tuesday and criticized President Trump for what he called disparaging remarks.

Romney took to Twitter to write that he couldn’t “understand why” Trump would go after McCain “once again,” referencing a comment Trump made about not being “a fan” of the Arizona Republican after tweeting over the weekend about the “stains” on his career.

“I can’t understand why the President would, once again, disparage a man as exemplary as my friend John McCain: heroic, courageous, patriotic, honorable, self-effacing, self-sacrificing, empathetic, and driven by duty to family, country, and God,” Romney’s tweet read.

The responses came swift.

Because he is not a war hero. Check with his fellow servicemen. They were not so impressed with him. McCain also betrayed Americans when he supported Obama care and spewed hate at the President the American people elected.

Oh, I don’t know…maybe because he single handled derailed repealing Obama Care, or was instrumental in sparking the new Red Scare. It’s possible to respect his military service while at the same time seeing he was a horrible senator.

Amen. I’m an Arizona resident. He did not represent the state. He was too interested in “global” issues, pretending to be President. I also have Obama care it is expensive and terrible insurance. And McCain failed in his duty representing the state and country with his naïve vote

I can’t understand why John McCain and Mitt Romney spent so much time disparaging President Trump, who accomplished what they both failed to do – save America from radical leftists.
