During a White House press briefing on Wednesday, CNN’s Jim Acosta clashed fiercely with President Trump, causing a scene that involved a (mild) physical altercation with a female staff member that quickly went viral.
Acosta, who has become known for his high-profile arguments with the president and his administration, became emotional and combative with Trump while discussing immigration, at one point, prompting the president to ask him to “let me run the country.”
“CNN should be ashamed of itself, having you working for them,” Trump told Acosta, going on to cite his frequent treatment of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders. “You are a rude, terrible person,” said Trump.

CNN, as well as various other members of the mainstream media, rushed to Acosta’s defense, condemning President Trump for his relationship with the media, calling his comments “dangerous” and “un-American.”

By harassing @Acosta for simply doing his job & deeming him as the ‘enemy of the people’, President Trump is engaging in a calculated effort of putting a target on this journalist’s back.#PressFreedom #MoreLatinosInNewshttps://t.co/AlpICrlRco pic.twitter.com/uKgT2t1ktD

The president responded to questions with personal attacks—calling CNN’s Jim @Acosta a “rude, terrible person” and having a staff member try to seize his mic, and accusing PBS NewsHour’s @Yamiche Alcindor of asking a “racist” question.

However, Trump supporters and social media commenters of all backgrounds reacted with shock and horror at Acosta’s behavior during the briefing.
Many urged the Trump administration to pull Acosta’s White House press pass, and pointed out that his continued hostility during briefings only serves to further damage CNN’s credibility.
If the #WHCA has any standards they will pull Acosta’s membership
If they don’t the WH should pull his access

Jim Acosta is a politcal pundit, an activist and a talking head, but he’s not a journalist. Stop inviting him to White House pressers.

Here’s the Jim Acosta meme that America needs right now. pic.twitter.com/mM1ufFBYTL

Acosta messed up today by getting physical (yes it was barely that but he touched her), and media is messing up by doubling down. This is why Trump supporters look the other way as well. All very destructive. Just call a clean game. Acosta fouled!

The inability to understand why Acosta is an ass correlates with the inability to understand how Republicans won Senate seats yesterday.

Jim Acosta is confrontational in a bad way.
He pokes and pokes and pokes and his goal is emotional distress on his target
He should be fired. Cnn should have polite journalist. Trump is not the cause of 200yrs of bad Government choices
