WATCH: Anti-Trump Shep Smith Declares “There is No Invasion” at The Border

Many viewers are wondering why Fox News allowed anti-Trump host Shepard Smith to handle “fact checking” the president’s Oval Office address considering his obvious personal hatred for Trump.

Smith predictably dismissed many of Trump’s claims, and called him a “big liar.”

Shepard Smith was recently wrong, when he told his viewers that there was no caravan, and no one was “coming to get you.” Real Clear Politics reported on Smith’s comments.

SHEPARD SMITH, FOX NEWS: The migrants, according to FOX News reporting, are more than 2 months away if any of them actually come. But tomorrow is one week before the midterm election, which is what all of this is about. There is no invasion. No one is coming to get you. There is nothing at all to worry about. When they did this to us, got us all riled up in April, remember, the result was 14 arrest. We’re America, we can handle it.

In November, at least 1,000 migrants stormed the U.S.-Mexico border.

Liberal Fox News pundit Shepard Smith pandered to CNN fans by “fact-checking” President Trump’s Oval Office address immediately after it ended.

During the speech, Trump made the case for a border wall, citing the need to halt the tsunami of illegal drugs, human traffickers, child smugglers, and violent criminals from coming into the US:

Our southern border is a pipeline for vast quantities of illegal drugs, including meth, heroin, cocaine, and fentanyl.

Every week, 300 of our citizens are killed by heroin alone, 90% of which floods across from our southern border. More Americans will die from drugs this year than were killed in the entire Vietnam War.

In the last two years, ICE officers made 266,000 arrests of aliens with criminal records, including those charged or convicted of 100,000 assaults, 30,000 sex crimes, and 4,000 violent killings.

Over the years, thousands of Americans have been brutally killed by those who illegally entered our country. And thousands more lives will be lost if we don’t act right now.

Shepard Smith reacted by flippantly dismissing the facts that President Trump cited, claiming they’re not true. “Government statistics show much of the heroin actually comes not over the unguarded border but through ports of call,” Smith said on Fox News.

Reminder: In October 2018, Smith also dismissed Trump’s claim that potential terrorists had infiltrated the Central American caravan.

Meanwhile, a Univision reporter who was embedded with the caravan reported that potential terrorists from Bangladesh had indeed infiltrated the caravan. Smith never issued a correction even after being caught lying.  So Shep’s “fact checks” should always be fact-checked.

Smith then goaded fellow Democrat Chris Wallace into denying that there is a crisis at the border but failed.

While Wallace said he doesn’t believe that Democrats will be persuaded to fund the border wall, he admitted there is indeed a border crisis.

“There’s no question that there is a crisis at the border,” Wallace said. “There has been a huge spike in the number of family units that are being apprehended at the border. It went from 7,000 in 2017 to 25,000 in November 2018.”

Wallace continued: “The speech will certainly galvanize the president’s base. I’m not sure it’s going to convince a lot of undecided people. And it certainly isn’t going to persuade the Democrats.”

Democrat Party leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer responded to President Trump’s Oval Office address by claiming he’s “manufacturing a crisis.”

This cavalier statement marginalizes the lives of the 5,000 Americans who are murdered every year by illegal aliens.

Pelosi and Schumer say the tragic, preventable murders of these Americans by illegal aliens is a “manufactured crisis.”
