On Thursday, the hosts of ABC’s “The View” reacted to Wednesday’s incendiary clash between President Trump and CNN’s Jim Acosta during a White House press briefing, with co-host Sunny Hostin said Acosta was “battered” by an aide.
“What I saw was a battery, not by Jim Acosta, but by the White House aide,” said Hostin, who said the young female aide committed battery against the CNN correspondent by attempting to take his microphone during the course of her job.
Hostin continued on to condemn the White House and press secretary Sarah Sanders, accusing them of releasing a “doctored video” in response to the incident – allegations which have since been debunked.
As the panel continued their discussion, many of the co-hosts appeared to defend Acosta’s behavior during the press briefing, and insinuated that blame lay with President Trump for his continued hostility toward the press.
At one point, Hostin appeared to agree in earnest with her co-host’s sarcastic suggestion that the White House aide should be arrested for battery abasing Acosta, despite the CNN reporter having clearly made physical contact by touching the woman’s arm.
