WATCH: Trump Expertly Trolls Obama Before Heading to Texas Border Town!

On Thursday, as he prepared to depart for Texas to visit the area surrounding the US-Mexico border, President Trump took a jab at his predecessor, Barack Obama, and shared a video from 2014 in which the former president also mentioned the “humanitarian crisis.”

“President Obama, thank you for your great support – I have been saying this all along!” said Trump, sharing a video showing Obama’s 2014 remarks regarding border security and the need for immigration reform.

While speaking five years ago, then-President Obama said “We now have an actual humanitarian crisis on the border, that only underscores the need to drop the politics and fix our immigration system once and for all.”

President Trump, who visited the US southern border in Texas on Thursday, has continuously stressed the need for an increase to security measures, including the construction of a border wall, which has been vehemently opposed by Democrats.

With Republicans and Democrats bitterly divided over the issue, the government remains locked in a shutdown with neither side appearing willing to bend.

Now, the possibility of President Trump declaring a national emergency appears increasingly likely, as it could potentially be a means to circumvent Democrats’ efforts to prevent his requested funding and construct his planned wall along the US-Mexico border.
